Have you received my referral from my GP?
When your GP sends us a referral, our team need to process it carefully to make sure we have everything we need. Once that's done, we'll send you a welcome email with details of the next steps.
Many GPs send referrals through in an encrypted format so we can't check if we have received the referral until they have been properly processed.
In January 2025 we had a large surge in demand meaning it can now take up to around 6-8 weeks for your referral to be processed once your GP sends it over to us. Please rest assured that we are working hard to speed up this process, and we expect this to reduce significantly from March 2025 when new technology and NHS-connectivity is introduced to our service through the NHS electronic referral service.
Sometimes, GP surgeries can take a few weeks to process referral requests, so we recommend checking in with your surgery if you have not heard back from us within 4 weeks of being told your GP has accepted your request.
You can learn more about the next steps once your referral is received, just here.
We can assure you that despite the initial delay, we are still usually seeing people within 4-6 weeks of the referral taking place. For updated information on our waiting times at each part of the process, please see this article.
