What are your waiting times?
The current average wait from a referral being made to the assessment happening is around 4 weeks for private referrals and 8-10 weeks for NHS referrals. The reason for the delay on NHS referrals is the sheer volume we are receiving and the extra time it takes to process them at the start. We are actively working on solutions that we are confident will bring this waiting time right down.
Much of the waiting time can be due to the delay in people completing the pre-assessment questionnaires and providing us with the necessary documents (i.e. ID and Summary Care Record).
Once this pre-assessment work is done, the process is usually pretty fast: our bookings team will usually reach out within a week, and from that point they can generally schedule the assessment itself within the next 2-3 weeks.
The quicker you complete the pre-assessment questionnaires and provide your ID and Summary Care Record, the quicker you will be booked in for your assessment.
We do our best to process all patients as quickly as possible, but minor delays can happen if:
Required forms are incomplete.
Multiple enquiries are submitted, which are currently taking time to review and respond to.
We receive thousands of emails each week, so while we aim to reply as soon as possible, responses may take a few days during busy periods. Rest assured, we actively monitor our response times and work to increase our capacity whenever needed.
At times, waiting times may temporarily increase due to a surge in referrals. However, we are committed to keeping them as low as possible through continued investment in modern digital customer service technology.
UPDATED POSITION: as at 14th February 2025
In January 2025, we received a large number of referrals which has led to a temporary increase in the initial time it takes to process new referrals (particularly NHS referrals), but we are implementing a number of technological improvements (and hiring more staff) to address this during February and March.
Despite slight delays at the start of the process, we are pleased to offer significantly lower overall waiting times than the 18-week NHS standard, and than is typically available in the ADHD sector, (with waiting times at 1-2+ years in many private providers, 5-10+ years in NHS providers).
Some people might have shorter or longer waits than the average for many reasons. The graphic below sets out more detail where the current waits in the process might be, typical reasons for variation, and the actions we are taking to keep improving and maintaining our low waiting times.
