What can I do if my GP won't refer me?

Not everyone (including GPs) are yet familiar with Right to Choose as it’s a relatively new policy. In order to help explain your right to choose to your GP, we provide a helpful template letter which you can download, along with a referral form, from our website.

Your GP's local health body (called an Integrated Care Board, or ICB for short) might give them a list of providers - but this cannot override a patients’ legal Right to Choose, which is enshrined in the NHS constitution.

You may wish to share with your GP the NHS Choice Framework which sets out the policy.
